Greg Merson Places 52nd in the 2025 WSOP Main Event
The 2012 champion returned for another deep Main Event run, finishing 52nd in 2025 for $200,000.
Greg Merson made another deep run in the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2025, finishing 52nd for $200,000.
The tournament began with 9,735 entries. After Day 4, Merson was one of 522 players still in contention and carried 1,495,000 chips into Day 5. PokerNews reported that he had started the previous day with 560,000 before building his stack through the money bubble.
Merson spoke during the run about staying patient and adjusting to the table, stack depth and pace of the tournament. That perspective carried particular weight from a player who came back from one big blind during the 2012 Main Event before winning the title.
The 52nd-place finish gave Merson another six-figure Main Event result and extended a record that began with his first WSOP cash in the same championship in 2009.
